Marvin Gaye

I kept hearing this voice, saying ‘Hi I’m Marvin’. At first I had no idea who it was. However I soon discovered that it was Marvin Gaye.

We had a really insightful conversation. I think most people are aware of the death of Marvin Gaye at the hands of his father but I heard the thoughts and opinions of Marvin himself. I found him to be one of the most insightful souls I have ever spoke with. He was nothing like I would have imagined. Have a listen.

  1. Hello Sharon, I happened to listen to your talk with Marvin. First of all, you have an amazing gift and i’m glad you share your insights when applicable. I must say, as someone who has studied the man and LOVE his music dearly that your experience rings true to what I know. The things that Marvin said to you warmed my heart to know that he’s at peace.

Yes, Marvin was a very soft spoken man, in interviews/docs i’ve seen with him it’s sometimes a little hard to hear him because of that! He was indeed a very intelligent, religious and spiritual man. He used to consult his bible, study Buddhism and other eastern religions. His music was intensely personal and he always had a spiritual component to it. Heck, even his last album which he admitted to just being a commercial thing had a song that hearkened back to his church roots. One song, was about the healing that music can give. Sadly, he was talked out of being too personal and that song ended up being all about a night of love making.

Anyways, I just want to thank you for sharing what you experienced. I think the words he said to you will have a powerful effect on people. To me, as a huge fan i’m glad to know that he’s alright. As he said in an interview during the “Sexual Healing” period “I just know somebody up there loves me”.

Oh and excuse the e-mail address it was made in a time when I was super hardcore in my fandom. I’m still a deep fan of the man but the fanaticism isn’t quite as strong.

  2. A motivating discussion is worth comment. There’s no doubt that that you need to write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo matter but generally people do not discuss such issues. To the next! All the best!!
